About the Speaker

Six Moon Designs founder, Ron Moak got his start as a college student when he started sewing his own equipment. Designing and making gear like hand-made tarps, sleeping bags, jackets and bivy sacks put him ahead of the lightweight curve as his fully loaded pack weight hovered around 35 pounds instead of the normal 50 or 60 of most other backpackers at the time. At the time there were no commercial gear options for those wishing to lighten up, and soon after Six Moon Designs was born.
